Summer Reading Program: "On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!"
Kids and teens ages Pre K through 12th grade are welcome to join our Summer Reading Program! Pick up a reading log in the Children's Room, read what you want, keep track of your reading, and win prizes! The theme for Pre-K through 5th grade is "On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!" and the theme from 6-12th grade is "Get in the Game--READ!"

Free Movie at the Library, "The Karate Kid"

Daniel (Ralph Macchio) moves to Southern California with his mother, Lucille (Randee Heller), but quickly finds himself the target of a group of bullies who study karate at the Cobra Kai dojo. Fortunately, Daniel befriends Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita), an unassuming repairman who just happens to be a martial arts master himself. Miyagi takes Daniel under his wing, training him in a more compassionate form of karate and preparing him to compete against the brutal Cobra Kai. This movie is rated PG and light snacks will be available.

Adventures on Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail
6 p.m. | Library Meeting Room
The Ice Age National Scenic Trail crosses 30 counties throughout Wisconsin, and retired schoolteacher Sylvia Oberle has walked each of its nearly 1200 miles. Join us for a free program with Sylvia Oberle and Kristine Rued-Clark on July 28 at 6 p.m. They'll share their experiences from the trail and read from their book "Adventures on Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail." Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Learn about the trail and plan your own hike!

FREE Movie at the Library, "Zootopia"

In a city inhabited by anthropomorphic animals who have abandoned traditional predator/prey roles in favor of civilized coexistence, uptight rabbit police officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) is forced to work with charismatic fox con artist Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) to crack a major case involving the mysterious disappearance of some carnivorous citizens. But when a few of the missing critters reappear, having reverted to pre-enlightenment savagery, it exposes existing anti-carnivore prejudice among the city's herbivores that threatens to damage the fabric of their diverse metropolis. This movie is rated PG. Light snacks will be available.

Harry Potter & the Ultimate Party -- a Fundraiser for the Children's Room
6-9 p.m. | Barnes & Noble, Miller Hill Mall, Duluth
Join us for the ULTIMATE Harry Potter Party as we celebrate the latest Harry Potter book, Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, with a book fair to support Superior Public Library's Children's Room. Join us at Barnes & Noble in Duluth for Harry Potter-themed events such as The Sorting Hat, Quidditch tournament, Charms and Potions Classes, the Hunt for the 7 Horcrux's, Trivia Contest, and much more! Enjoy treats from HoneyDukes, send a letter to your favorite Harry Potter character at the Owl Post, or hang out at the Great Hall with some Butter Beer as you watch all the festivities. There will be special activities for the little ones in the children's department. Be sure to dress as your favorite character. At the stroke of midnight, purchase your copy of Harry Potter & the Cursed Childand join in the celebration in honor of Harry Potter's birthday!

When college coach Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) is hired to helm the 1980 U.S. men's Olympic hockey team, he brings a unique and brash style to the ice. After assembling a team of hot-headed college all-stars, who are humiliated in an early match, Brooks unites his squad against a common foe, the heavily-favored Soviet team. As the U.S. squad tries to overcome insurmountable odds and win the gold medal, the team becomes a microcosm for American patriotism during the Cold War. The Downbeats have shed their winter coats and are bringing their 2016 show to the library, packed with songs written by such greats as George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and others. Treats and beverages will be provided by the Friends of the Library. This is a FREE show and all are invited to attend.
