Meet our Community Resources Specialist!
Meet our Community Resources Specialist, Lexi!
Why do we offer social work services in the library?
Social work is about meeting the individual where they’re at. In today’s world, that’s libraries.
Social work in libraries is a relatively new concept but is becoming widely accepted and needed throughout our country. Libraries are more than books now. They’re a place where people can find resources, use the internet, and attend library and community programs. Most important of all, they are a place open to everyone. The Superior Public Library noticed this and collaborated with the University of Wisconsin-Superior to have a social work intern in 2022, and then transitioned to have a social work consultant on staff, along with a variety of interns to better serve our patron’s needs.
