DESCRIPTION:What’s happening on the St. Louis River right now? Join the St. Louis River Alliance for their new River Revival event series\, a monthly gathering to learn about the river\, ongoing restoration at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay\, and ways to connect with this special place. \nJoin the St. Louis River Alliance and partners for the first River Revival on Thursday\, April 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Superior Public Library. \nAnishinaabe artist\, educator\, and community organizer Giizh Agaton Howes of Heart Berry will share about the ~11-mile inaugural Anishinaabe Canoe Migration she organized on the St. Louis River in 2025. Come hear from the paddlers who followed ancestral waterways from Chambers Grove to Woodstock Bay in an ongoing effort to reconnect community with the water. Members will share their perspective on the cultural importance of the St. Louis River and Wisconsin Point. \nFollowing the presentation\, participants are invited to create their own river-inspired artwork in a hands-on block printing activity (all materials provided). Wisconsin DNR staff will also be present to share updates on current restoration work at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay and answer questions. \nCome listen\, learn\, create\, and connect with the living stories of the river.

DESCRIPTION:Join the St. Louis River Alliance at the library for their next River Revival program on Thursday\, May 21 from 5-6:30 p.m. to learn about the Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study and the cultural importance of manoomin (wild rice). Learn how community voices are shaping restoration and recreation projects across the estuary. Staff from AMI Consulting Engineers will then share updates from the Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study\, exploring shoreline protection\, habitat health\, and future planning for Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay. \nThe highlight of the evening features guest speakers from the 1854 Treaty Authority\, who will share the cultural and ecological importance of manoomin (wild rice) and its deep connection to the plants\, animals\, and people of the estuary\, along with hands-on opportunities to see and feel traditional harvesting tools and rice. \nCome learn\, connect\, and be part of the ongoing story of the St. Louis River. Free\, all ages are welcome. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

SUMMARY:Writers on Writing: Anthony Bukoski\, Thomas Johnson\, & Victoria Lynn Smith
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, June 23 at 6 p.m.\, Superior Public Library will host Superior authors Thomas Johnson\, Anthony Bukoski\, and Victoria Lynn Smith. They will read briefly from their work\, then discuss how and why they write and the process by which they have sold book-length manuscripts to publishers. A question-and-answer period will follow. \nPublishers Weekly called Johnson’s book Rescuing Claire “an immensely appealing first novel\,” Kirkus Reviews describing his prose as “muscular.” Booklist called the lengthy first piece in Bukoski’s The Thief of Words “striking\,” going on to say\, “Bukoski’s stories finely capture the unobserved weight of identity and things left behind.” Smith’s rich and wise debut story collection\, Silent Negotiations\, will be published in February 2027 by Cornerstone Press. \nThis program is co-sponsored by Foxes & Fireflies Books.
