SUMMARY:Fascinating Folk Instruments at Billings Park
DESCRIPTION:Come to Billings Park (Pavilion 2) on August 7 at 2 p.m. for a FREE Fascinating Folk Instruments workshop with Vincent Schueren of Spoons for the People! Ten unique folk instruments (including the nose flute\, jaw harp\, penny whistle\, and the musical jug) come to life in this hands-on show-and-tell experience for the musically curious. Participants will hear their colorful dings and toots\, learn how they physically produce sound\, and get to know their stories a little better. Spanning various time periods and cultures\, this interactive presentation demonstrates how mundane objects transform into magical musical instruments with the help of humanity’s innate creativity. With guided support\, participants will have the opportunity to play the musical spoons and the comb and paper\, as we join together in playing a few folk songs! This workshop is perfect for all ages and all materials are provided. Join in the fun!
